Meet Tia Townsend, APRN-BC

A young woman with long blonde hair smiling in a field of tall grass during autumn with trees in the background.

Hi, I’m Tia Townsend, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of experience helping people care for their mental health. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2005 and moved to Georgia in 2008, where I’ve been proud to serve my community ever since.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of settings—including Emory University, University of Miami Hospital, University of Tennessee Hospital, and private practices. These experiences have given me the privilege of working with teens, adults, and older adults, and have taught me the importance of tailoring care to each person’s unique story.

I especially enjoy working with adolescents and adults who are navigating depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. In my practice, I offer telehealth appointments for convenience and accessibility, including one-hour new patient visits and 30-minute follow-ups. During these sessions, we’ll talk through your concerns, explore treatment options, and, if appropriate, I can provide medication management. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and cared for.

Outside of work, life is full and joyful. I’m a proud wife of 20 years and mom of three, and on weekends you’ll usually find me cheering on my boys at the baseball field or watching my daughter shine in ballet and cheer. At home, our two dogs keep us busy and add plenty of love (and chaos!) to our family life.

Caring for others—both in my family and in my work—is what brings me the greatest fulfillment, and I truly love what I do.
